Dear Sir or Madam:
At Mr. Li Yang's request, I write this letter to support his application for entrance into your MBA program.

I have known Li as a talented IT professional and respectable person since 1996, since I went to China to recruit IT engineers. Through the introduction of my friend, Li assisted me in the whole process of recruitment, from renting hotel, carrying Ad to interviewing candidates.

The result of that recruitment was very satisfied and Li's outstanding organizational skills and IT knowledge gave me strong impression. Therefore, I invited him to work in Japan. He didn't accept my invitation immediately for the reason of his work. After one year, he made the decision and came to Japan and worked in Eternal Science Inc. I was the manager of the Planning Department in which Li had been working since.

The most appreciated characteristics of Li is his self-motivation. He clearly possess goal in any time and try his best to pursue it. In his after-hours, he had kept on studying for skillup and preparation of some exams. When I asked him why he studied so hard, he always answered that it was an efficient way to kill time. From my perspective, without strong self-control and high ethical standard, in such a place like Japan where you can easily find some amusement, young man in Li's age would be difficult to use all his time to design and build his future. With this characteristic, I believe that Li could get more and more achievements in the future.

There are many other strengths of Li. For example, Li is a fast-learner, In others word , I may say that he is the most intelligent people I have ever met. When Li came to Japan in January 1998, he only knew the character list of Japanese. Though he is good at English, not every Japanese coworker knew English well. The problem in language influenced his performance in the beginning. Li used most of his spare time to study Japanese. Then in October, Li could communicate with his colleagues without any difficulties. In December of the same year, Li passed the Japanese proficiency test 1st Level. The Japanese proficiency test has four levels from the lowest of 4th level to the highest of 1st level. It is not easy, even for the full-time students in the Japanese school, to pass 1st level in one year. We were surprised by his achievement. But the more surprising things came later. One after another, Li got the qualifications of Information Technology Engineer from Ministry of foreign trade and industry of Japan, Microsoft certification System Engineer , Sun certified Java Programmer. All of these certifications are highly valued in IT industry. Finally, colleagues gave him a nickname--ShiKakuOn ( the king of qualification). No road of flowers leads to glory. We could imagine that How tremendous efforts Li had paid.

Li is fully competent as a IT professional. The duty of our planning department is to dispatch talented employees to work for partner enterprises. Li had worked in Hitachi Software Engineering Ltd. from the beginning till his leaving from Eternal Science Inc. Because of the strict requirement of Hitachi software, without a considerably high level of technology and ability of teamwork, it is hard to work over half a year in Hitachi Software. Li had been working for two years and his last position is a member of the Mondex team (Mondex electric money is a strategic project supported by Japan government).

Due to his continuous tracking of the latest development of IT industry, Li could always propose creative solutions. For example, in the project of Debit Card Relay Server, he had proposed to use multi-threaded programming instead of multi-process programming. The processing capacity of the final system tripled the original one anticipated by clients. Li is a typical team player for his easy-going character. In his team, Li always kept open mind and never refused to listen to others' opinions. He could also motivate his colleagues while he was making progress. After he got his qualifications for IT engineer, his success encouraged his team members.

Li lent his studying materials to and helped his coworkers to prepare the qualification. At that time, it became a tide of pursuing certification in his team.

In Oct. 1999, I left Eternal Science and started up my own company. I invited Li to work with me once again. I was regretful that he didn't join me that time. But I understood that he had a higher objective. In 2000, Li resigned from Eternal Science and joined a foreign company.

The friendship we had established while we were working together has lasted. We have been in constant touch till now. Being asked to write a recommendation, I did not hesitate for a moment, because I know that he has the potential to achieve greater success than what he has got now. And I believe that, with his rich and colorful professional experiences, Li would be of as much of an asset to your graduate business program as he was to us so two years ago.
